what's the difference between IP & Analog Nurse call systems ?

Hi all ,

what's the difference between IP & Analog Nurse call systems ?

I'm working in constructing a new hospital , and in the specs. there is " Nurse call system " and the owner said that he heard there is an IP nurse call system and he wants to upgrade into it .

An analogy may be: Whats the difference between POTS and VOIP (or Skype).
The analog systems were similar to the Plane Old Telephone Systems and the Internet Protocal Systems use similar technology to Voice Over Internet Protocal or Skype.
