Hej,

I have written a rigid vehicle model to simulate the handling of a generic car. To test my model I need to collect data on the Engine, i.e. the torque for different RPMs, gear ratios and transmission efficency figures.

I'm having a hard time finding data on the Engine-torque, while data on wheel-torque is more easy to find. Gear ratios are also easy to find but the power loss (efficeny of the transmission) from the engine to the wheels seems to be very hard to find.

My model of the gearbox allows for the efficency of the transmisson to vary depending on the gear, but not on the RPM.

My question is if there is some reasoable way to convert the data on the wheel-torque into engine-torque and transmisson efficency?

I'm glad for all tips and hints, but my engineering skills are limited as is probably apparent from my writing.

regards

Almost all production cars have specs that give max torque max power and the engine speed at which they occur.
