When I open Tools, Feature Palette and the dialog box opens, three folders appear. On clicking them though, nothing happens. I found in my C:\Solidworks2\data a bunch of files that I imagine should be in the Features Palette. (2001Plus)
1.How do I get them to go there?
2.A there other available downloadable files for the Feature Palette?
Thanks-Z

Select Tools\Options. In the System Options Tab select File Locations. There are 3 sections that allow you to control where SolidWorks looks for Palette files. They are Palette Features, Palette Parts, and Pallet Forming Tools. Any valid directory can be added to these locations. We found that it is normally a good idea to use a mapped network drive and directory for most of these things. That way every user can automatically share all new palette.
A word of warning though, we added our entire hardware directory to the palette and found that this was NOT a good idea. We had something like 4 or 5 thousand files in a lot of sub-directories and it could take several minutes to display all of those icons.

The SolidWorks website is a good place to find Palette Features and Forming Tools. Ideal-Parts is also another source. They have a number of products as well as a free library called Tap’N Clear which is a collection of Metric holes. You might also check some of the other part library companies.

Thanks for your comments, esp your caveat on making the lookup process overly long. Increasing instability made me decide to remove SW2001+ and I did so (with the helpful advice on this forum on doing a clean install) and my troubles went away-Z
