Where are my custom Hole Wizard databases?

I had to replace my hard drive, without being able to export my SolidWorks settings. The old drive is still readable (just not bootable). I have pretty much gotten things back to normal , all except my custom Hole Wizard databases. I was able to locate folders that have the same names as the data bases, located in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Solidworks Data\Browser. But, in spite of copying these folders over into the same location on my new drive, they still don't show up in Hole Wizard.

Is there a way to fix this or do I simply need to re-create the custom databases?

You can copy the relevant file (C:\Program Files\Common Files\Solidworks Data\lang\English\SWBrowser.mdb) to your new HD.

Not sure what you mean by custom HoleWizard databases. However, if you are talking about your favorites file, look for the SolidWorks folder\data\Default.mdb file and copy that.

SolidAir ... THe Hole Wizard data (& any customisation of it) is contained in the SWBrowser.mdb file.

See Hole Wizard thread559-147113

Also check out for details of how to add custom holes (or other data) to the HW.

CBL,

I realize that. I have made many custom modifications to the database file (through SolidWorks and MS Access). However, if alolesen copied the SWBrowser.mdb file to his new hard drive (to the same folder), then his customization should not have been missing. Alolesen also used the plural "databases". Since there is only one database file that I am aware of (for HoleWizard), this left me wondering what alolesen was really talking about. The only other possibility I can think of is that the toolbox.ini file that controls where SolidWorks looks for the database file is not set to where alolesen put the customized file. My experience with users is you have to get down to exactly what they did. Often they will leave out "oh, I clicked this or checked that" when they first explain the problem. It is often that this was what caused the problem.

SolidAir,

alolesen didn't copy the SWBrowser.mdb file, he copied the contents of the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Solidworks Data\Browser folder which contains the Toolbox parts, not the HW data.

I assume the "databases" reference was to the different standards data that can be customised. Not truly plural databases but tables within the database ... close enough for me.
