Where did the section not requiring FDC's on systems < 20 heads go?

It is something in the past of long ago that I remember using; if a system had less than 20 sprinklers a fire department connection was not required.

I got a small 16 head system (2,000 sq ft building).

I can not remember if it was less than 20 or not more than 20 but I do remember seeing it and I even used it about three times over the past 41 years.

But in the 2013 edition I can not for the life of me find it. Where did they put it?

I have a copy of the '89 edition - and the 20 sprinkler omission criteria is in there.

2-7.1

Exception No. 1: The fire department connection may be omitted for systems having 20 sprinklers or less.

The next oldest I have is the '99 edition, and the 20 sprinkler omission criteria is gone.

So, I would guess it was removed in either the '91, '94 or '96 editions.

If I remember right it was in the 2002 version.

I have that buried around somewhere I'll have to look.

The thing is Georgia made the giant leap from 2002 to 2013 and I'm just not familiar with what was in earlier versions yet, working on it.

The 20 sprinkler criteria doesn't seem to be there. The omission criteria changed, but only slightly. Now instead of 20 sprinklers, it is single-story buildings not exceeding 2000 sq. ft. (which is pretty close to saying the same thing).

8.17.2.2 (3), in the 2013 edition.

Thanks, I looked and looked for that and couldn't find it. Now I know where to go,
