The machined metal textures in the SolidWorks materials database are relevant to only a small minority of machined parts. I imagine SolidWorks selected these textures because they are easily patterned. The majority of parts I design are either machined stainless steel or bead-blasted, anodized aluminum. If I could get a hold of some good-looking fly-cut textures for milled parts, turned textures for turned parts, and a matte finish for bead-blasted parts, that would be ideal. Anyone know where to look?
