Hello,

In general, the book introduces that the winding method of a BLDC motor selects the concentrated winding, and the winding method of a permanent magnet synchronous motor selects the distributed winding.

Is distributed winding impossible for BLDC Motor?

Brushless servomotors
When brushless became fashionable some years ago, it existed differing opinions on the terms "AC servomotor" and brushless "DC servomotors".
This is because they to its design has more in common with the AC than DC motor, while its control, properties and applications, on the other hand, have significantly more similarities with DC servomotors than with conventional AC machines.
The term "brushless servomotor" covers all variants of servomotors that have electronic commutation instead of mechanical.

Even a DC machine is an "AC machine" at the armature level. It is at the commutation point, whether mechanical or electronic, it's characteristics are different. There is no distribution factor in the DC machine EMF equation.

If the BLDC motor is a salient pole type, as many out runners are, distributed windings don't match well with salient poles.

I don't know if that's strictly true; I know that we've acquired systems with distributed windings that were digitally controlled, but I'm not sure if there was something unique in the commutation; nevertheless, I think that the windings were distributed to minimize cogging, which was a bigger issue for our application.

There's a big difference between a stepper motor application vs. a servo motor application. In the former, cogging helps you, while in the latter, it's very task specific; in our application, which was a servo-ish application, cogging was BAD.
