Hey guys. We are going to be replacing a heat exchanger nozzle that has been in EDCL service. The original construction is c22 but we cannot get c22 so we have to go with c276. What filler metal is going to be better for the repair? C276, Inco182, or Inco625?

Thank in advance!

I agree, I would use the C-22 filler.

I'll third that motion.

BTW what is EDCL?

Ethylene dichloride, by which they mean 1,2 dichloroethane rather than dichloroethylene. It's the starting material for vinyl chloride production.

Corrosivity is probably comparable to MeCl then, which I have considerable experience with. It is a nasty environment, especially when moisture and stray organics inevitably creep in.
The elite C alloys are specified, with C-22 being generally preferred to C-276. These alloys and their respective matching filler metals are mutually compatible in any combination, but use C-22 filler in this case.

At the minimum, I would select NiCrMo-10. Depending on the service, I might also up alloy even more by selecting an alloy like 686.
