Please anyone can tell me which column lapping is best and how?

You will likely get different opinions on this, but the most popular way is to offset bend the bars. I prefer bringing the bars from below through straight, and offsetting the bars above the splice. The inclined part must be not steeper than 1:6, and extra ties should be provided to prevent the horizontal component from pushing the bars out.

If the columns below and above are different sizes, straight lapping bars are used.
