Can you tell me please which manufacturing process I would need to employ in order to produce a PVC spike approx. 550mm long, which is a cruciform cross section, which incorporates (at its uppermost portion) a flanged end 200mm square by 12mm thick. The fins in the cruciform also being 12mm thick. As depicted on the attached word document. It is estimated we will need around 50,000 of these items each year. Thanks.

Link not working, but from desc. I would guess injection moulding. You might wish to consider another material to open your options - corrosion resistant machines and tooling required for PVC. It might seem cheap per lb/Kg but it's 40% more dense than say ABS. Depends on environmental conditions.

With the very large section, gas injection would also be very cost-effective too. Reduces cycle time and reduces material content.
Please expand..

You will also need a big press (what is the part volume)!

Cheers

Harry

I think it sounds like the shot weight could be one or two Kgs or more and required clamp will be over 200 tonnes, maybe 300 or 400, depending on the width of the fins.

From the little info we have, as usual, I agree with Harry.

Why PVC? It has some excellent properties, but some problems as well.
