I was on an a Topcon APL-1A robotic total station for about 5 years and have recently gone to a Topcon 8003 robotic and even though the 8003 is the most recent model Topcon offers I find it very lacking in what I had become used to with the APL-1A especially in its tracking ability. I do a wide range of survey work from mortgage surveys in urban areas that have very confined areas to 120 ac. site developments to heavy wooded tree surveys.
My question is this, is there any previous APL-1A users out there who have found a good replacement?
How about any robotic users out there who find their instrument to be very efficient?
I'd be happy to discuss any specifics with anyone interested, but for now I previously used a Topcon APL-1A with a Husky and currently use a Topcon 8003A with a Recon and an RC-2 (IR com and locator) as backup
Thanks all!
