I heard that in some states you cannot practice structural engineering unless you passed the Structural I and II PE exams. Other states allow you to practice as long as you have a PE and are competant in the field you are practicing in. Which states require the Structural I and II?

Check this article. Each state has it's own regulations and keep changing over time. And, so it is a good idea to check with the state boards you are trying to get licensure from. But, this article should give you a good idea of the requirements of most of the state boards.

Also, check out the article on the new 16 hour structural exam that is going to replace SE-1 and SE-2 exams beginning next year.

Hope this is helpful.
