Which Surface definition is the most precise and Exact in SolidWorks ?

Hi All

I wanted to know if the NURBS surface definition the most exact surface definition in Solidworks ? I have a problem , that when I define even a hollow cylinder , and export it as .STEP , to use in a FEM software , I see the surface has many facets to edit, before using, otherwise I will have contact definition problems , any many more, shall someone advise me how to define such a geometry, and definitely much more complex ones , in the most precise method , with the lowest tolerance possible ?

It depends on the geometry you need. If you can do something with an extrude or revolve of sketches with lines and arcs then there shouldn't be any issues. Anything with wiggly geometry, fills, sweeps, lofts, boundary, splines will be less precise. Most FEA packages can handle any reasonable geometry without issues. I hope this helps.
