Why do Constrained parts move when using remove feature 1

Hi,

I am using CATIA V5 R20. I have a die assembly which is fully constrained. I want to create a model of the cavity. I have a seperate part (cavity volume) which overlaps the die structure and I am using the remove feature to generate the internal cavity geometry.

Working at the Cavity_Volume part level i select the remove function, and remove each individual die component from the Cavity_Volume part.

However, there is one component that when i select it for removal it moves within the assembly. It rotates out of position so that it no longer intersects the cavity part, and therfore i can't generate the geometry.

Why does this occur and how do i stop it occuring?

The part is fully constrained within the assembly
No other parts in the assembly do this when selected in the removel function.

Any help would be appreciated.

Are you running SP7 for R20? This service pack fixes several assembly update bugs. I think your removal part has a constraint that is not updated. If you do not know where the constraint is located you could use Assembly Design, Analyze --> Mechanical Structure to show the tree with constraints. I would suggest turning all the constraints visible using the search tool.

Derek
