Hi

could anyone please explain why do we conduct frequency analysis? In Le Mans terms what is it that is extracted from the frequency analysis results? for example in real life situation, for a Ceiling mount monitor bracket system why would a client need to know the frequency analysis?

any help is sincerely appreciated.

The most common goal of frequency analysis is to find the natural frequencies of a structure and compare them with operating frequencies to avoid resonance. In addition to that, you also get the mode shapes showing the way the part will vibrate for a given eigenfrequency when subjected to load. Displacement and stress values are relative here (there's no load after all) so they only show you which parts will deform/stress more.

Frequency analyses are also often used for dynamic simulations using the modal superposition method. Another example is when you have an assembly and want to verify connections and boundary conditions to see if there are any rigid body motions. There are also other, less common, applications of frequency analyses.
