Why Pressurize an Outside Plant Enclosure

I am looking into acquiring an outside plant enclosure for a small, low powered piece of telecommunications equipment. I understand that such systems are sometimes placed in an enclosure that is pressurized with Nitrogen.
1)Why would I want to do this?
2)Are there any industry standards that specify the requirements for such an enclosure?

I was told once that this is done to keep corrosion of the electrical connections to a minimum. The telecom wire connections are very low voltage, can't tolerate any corrosion. Nitrogren is used because it is cheap.

This would not necessarily cover the requirements to use such an enclosure, but you might find the requirements the enclosure would need to satisfy from the link below. I would think OSHA or a similar state entity (TX means Texas I assume), might be able to further clarify requirements.
