I wanted to know why we r using the A106 Gr.B and not A106 Gr.A/C?
same is for A516 Gr.60.... this material is used in our company more frequently than A516 Gr.70...

Why it is so? why certain grades are more popular?
I wanted to know more about material selection.
can u help in that?

Thank u in advance.

Typically, material grades like the above are selected based on application, availability and cost of material. What is your application for using these materials?

One of the differences in some of the grades will be notch toughness at lower temperatures- one reason for using A516-60 over A516-70, for example. In the case of pressure vessels, tanks, etc., this distinction is made in the design codes.
