We bought Viewsonic VX2235 wide screen displays for out Autocad department after reading online that they work well with Autocad. When using the specified resolution (1680x1050), everything looks normal but the icons are all too small. On another computer, we only have a lower resolution available. This makes all the icons a reasonable size, but the display is stretched horizontally. Circles look like ellipses.

I just want icons to be big enough to see easily and have the display not be stretched. I find it hard to believe that people are using wide screens for Autocad with the above problems. There must be a way around it.

I appreciate any help anyone can provide.

On the "other" computer does it do this for all programs or only for AutoCAD? It sounds like you have the monitor incorrectly configured (wrong drivers? old graphics card? hence only having a lower resolution available) and set up at the wrong aspect ratio.

May sound dumb, but have you tried the "large button setting"?

Your best results on an LCD are going to be at the native resolution. You can try the large buttons option, or just give it time and adjust to the new icon sizes. I would not recommend changing the resolution for an application as graphically reliant as CAD.

I use the 1680X1050 resolution on mine with small buttons and see them just fine with my thick glasses. Maybe I just go by feel. But the large buttons (I just tried it) is waaaay to large.
