Is there a way to have Solidworks ask for width, depth and length when inserting a part into an assembly.

Right now I have a BOARD part with a Configuration Table with 1" to 20' long Configurations. If I have a part that needs to be 6' 1.5" inches I have to edit the table in the part to create it.

The table has 1 x 4, 2 x 4, 2 x 6, etc, so it's getting cumbersome.

Can I have a generic part that is a 1 x 1 x 1 block and have solid works ask for the L W D as it is inserted.

Thanks

Also, look into using Weldments. You create the profile as a library part, and then use a (3d) sketch in your part file to create the length.
This also works great for multiple lengths & pieces of wood used in the same assembly (part file)
