Hi

i am doing analysis on an inclined panel at degrees = theta.

the panel is supported on a small base -i want to check overturning.

i would like to achieve some knowledge on the wind force loading.

can you please assist me?

My thoughts: horizontal wind pressure gives the panel both horizontal force and a vertical down pressure. horizontal wind pressure from reverse gives horizontal force and vertical up pressure.

Can someone please give me their thoughts and help me ascertain value of the vertical pressures. is it p* cos(theta) for the verticals?

Thanks.

Are you treating the panel as cladding or components; or are you treating the panel as MFWR-Structures?

Normally the wall loads are treated as entirely horizontal loads (pressure or suction) and the roof is treated as downward pressure or uplift. Now it would be legitimate to resolve the horizontal forces into orthogonal components, but still horizontal.

The roof is usually treated as a vector normal to the roof surface and then resolved into horizontal and vertical vectors which act on the roof and then are added to the horizontal wall forces for an entire building load.

ASCE 7 - XX will give you coefficients for the wind loads to be translated into forces from wind speeds.
