Hi,

I need help on how to calculate the wind load acting over the fin structure extended from building elevation as shown in the drawing.
I am referring ASCE 7-10 components & cladding for designing the building facade but i am not sure i can apply the same wind load over fin structure
is it ok if i consider the fin structure as a free standing wall and design as per MWFRS??

I think I would design it as a windward wall plus a leeward wall (add the loads). This is basically the methodology for designing parapets, and I think it is more reasonable than treating it like a free standing wall.

Agree with Dave, Components and cladding, both external pressure and suction combined. It's a high load, but I've seen those kind of things flapping all around.
