Hello everyone,

I have building that falls under the category of partially open. Basically 3 open sides with one wall in the back. Based on previous seminars my office has attended, it is our understanding that any roof structure within the envelope of the building would not have additional pressure added to the underside. I can see the argument for applying additional load (i.e. using overhang pressure,) but this was brought up in the seminars and we were told no. Does anyone have anything that says differently?

Thank you for any help

So what does the seminar people think happens to the wind that blows under the roof and hits the only wall at the back? Goes out the sides? I feel some of that goes upwards. We use overhang type pressures for structures like that where I practice.

@AJ817 you should clarify if your building is a 3-sided building that is freestanding outside, or if it is a structure inside another structure.
