Hello,
I have been trying to model a wind tower with the following specifications:
height: 87.6m
Base dia : 6m
top dia : 3.87m
Base steel thickness = 0.035m
Top Steel thickness = 0.025m

Can anyone help me to design the area sections for the tower, with linearly varying steel thickness?
Also I would need help in finding out the modal mass for the 1st natural frequency/ mode.

First you must understand modelling before you design.
Sap can model using frame elements, shell elements and solid elements, along with other special local elements
Your case will probably be easier with frame elements.
So model the tower with a vertical frame element
Then carefully divide the element such that you can assign each element proper section properties.
Get forces and then do your design depending on the code you are using.

hope this helps
