Wind velocity before Rain.

hi,

Does anybody know why the wind velocity is always higher before a heavy rain or storm comes.

Water vapor when cools down becomes rain. For this water vapor temperature should be less than its saturation temperature. As the temperature reduces to suit raining the atmospheric temperature in that area reduces. There will be a temperature difference with respect to its adjescent area. (though i cannot tell you the distance between these two)

This temperature difference sets up pressure difference (high temperature creates low pressure) By the law of the nature flow will be from high pressure zone to low pressure zone.

The more the temperature difference the more will be the driving potential and more wind force.

At atmospheric pressure, water vapor is ~1600 times less dense than liquid water. When the vapor condenses, it forms a low pressure area. Since surrounding areas are at a higher pressure, air (wind) flows from the higher pressure area (surroundings) to the low pressure area (where water vapor is condensing) in an attempt to equalize the pressure.
