I would like to know your opinion about the distinct pros and cons using chemical, organic(blasting), water/soap(detergent), or cryogenic liquids for motor or generator winding where machines are prone to grease and petroleum base oils contamination. The machine is open drip-proof enclosure in diesel power plant.

What choice and best experience had address to this matter?

Good results with dry ice blasting on much bigger machines (170MVA 15.5kV air cooled generator). Have also used detergents and solvent cleaning with varying degrees of success. Some drive the oil further into the winding, other spread it around. A lot depends on the skill of the operator involved.
