Gents,

I posed a question over a year ago with regards to window sprinklers. Just want to clarify.

If you use Tyco WS "closed" window sprinklers do they need to be on their own zone?

Was putting window sprinklers on their own zone only due to the older "open type" heads?

Application is interior stairwell wall, glazing makes part of the fire rating. Arch. will not do the fire rated glass.

Cheers,
Jeremiah

I do not believe they need to be in their own zone. Just pay attention to their specific listing requirements in regards to horizontal mullions and the sprinkler height in relation to the window.

Unless the window has no horizontal mullions and the top of the frame is at the ceiling level using fire rated glass looks much better than exposed sprinkler piping.

You could also go for a variance and install a water curtain on each side of the window, would save some $$$ comparred to the 300 dollar window sprinkler.
