I would like to know how many versions back I can go in both Solid Edge and UG and still run the software without upgrading to a workstation.

Note that I can't speak for Solid Edge, but while I'm unsure of exactly what it is that you're getting at here, I can state with absolute certainty that UG/NX has been available as a fully supported Windows-based software application since September 1999 when we released V16.0, the first version of Unigraphics which ran totally native on Windows without the need for any emulation or alternative interface software (BTW, I've still got a copy of UG V16.0 on my 'Windows 7' based laptop and it runs just fine).

And if my recollections are correct, Solid Edge has ALWAYS been a fully supported Windows-based software application right from its inception, but someone else will need to confirm that for me since I don't work for the Solid Edge side of our business.
