I installed this last week (IT version--272 MB) and have had no problems so far with SW 2004 SP4.0.

There are a number of applications that are having difficulties with this service pack, but most relate to the usage of communications ports being automatically blocked by the firewall or other feature. AutoCAD is one such program--not sure which version at this point. Check with the Microsoft web site if this is a concern.

I noticed quicker communication between my XP system and my Win2000 machine for the shared drive on the Wind2000 machine after installing the service pack.

Happy updating.

I'm sure I'm not the only one, but I got an email warning from my VAR saying to put off implementing XP sp2.

I received the same notice TheTick got, from the company I work for and from our VAR.

Right. This is probably because complete tests have not yet been done with the variety of accompanying hardware and add-ons, etc. concerning SW and XP SP2. (I received no such message from my VAR--perhaps because I wouldn't heed the advice?)

I figured I'd bite the bullet and try it during a mini-lull before taking on a busy project to see what would happen (morbid curiosity).

It's a risk, so I figured I'd post my results thus far, since they are hard to come by.
