normally for composite elements stress and stress are aligned to the material direction.

at the OP …
how much do you know of FeMap ? Have you looked into the manuals ? YT tutorials ?
what output vectors are available in your output ?
what does your model contain ?
Does you model isolate the wing spar in some way (like group or layer) ?

This is such a basic question, it looks like someone gave you a bunch of output and said "go find the wing spar strain"
and your reaction is "what's FeMap ?"
'cause you don't have "FeMap" output … FeMap is a pre-and post-processor for NASTRAN (possibly other codes too).
No apologies … do at least the basic amount of work before you ask here.
Your 16 word post doesn't show me what you've tried to do to solve the question.

thanks for your guys' responses...

all im asking is if you were to look at (read) strains in the wing spar caps, what output vectors would u look at in the contour plots? there's a bunch of strain related output vectors in results & im not quite sure which one to use.

HINT: answer could be as simple as 'hey, go look at --- output vector'. that specific output vector cuz ---- . :)
 
yeah, wish it was as easy as that !
mainly 'cause you don't know what you're looking at and have (IMO) very little idea of what you want.

you say composite structure. ok, that brings a ton of issues to the table …
the composite should be built with LAMINATE property cards, with each ply modelled to the appropriate angle.
depending on how you analyze composite structures, you may use an interaction formula, which should be a different output vector, per ply.
or you may extract the strain of the entire laminate and post process of the MS in each ply.

If the latter than you need to know what strain to input into your post-processing.
I would suspect you want both normal strains and the shear strain.
These should be obvious output vectors.

I suggest you do some more research on this, YT videos are very helpful. The FeMap tutorials will help too, the FeMap manuals tend to be hard to read (like all manuals).

Here’s a tip: make a flat rectangular plate model, apply a uniaxial load. Calculate the applied strain by hand. Run the model then figure out what FEMAP strain matches the hand calc strain.
 
If you would like contour plots of strains make sure your analysis set has strains turned on in the Output Request section. This will tell Nastran to calculate element strain results and FEMAP will read these results and create corresponding Output Vectors. You can then plot and list these results as needed.
