Currently I am trying to machine a slot in a stainless steel tube using a fanuc alphaoic wire edm. Curently the wire comes in at one end of the tube and erodes out a slot then exits the tube the same way it came in. Im trying to reduce the width of the slot that the wire is creating. Im using 0.25mm wire which is cutting a 0.35mm slot. I need to cut a 0.3mm slot. Does anyone have any idea which cutting conditions i should change to reduce the spark gap?

cheers

How about wire diameter? Hitachi makes wire that is 150 micrometers and 100 micrometers in diameter.

Yeah, I thought about that but I remember someone mentioning to me before that there is a way to change the discharge gap of the wire. I have a book of cutting conditions but no idea how to read it.. cheers for the reply

decreasing the voltage could be a good idea. However, you could need to move a little the position of the wire
