Wireloc or Grayloc connector

If you have any experience to using the following connector (Wireloc or Grayloc), could you please let me know the answers for questions.

I've never heard of Wireloc before, but years ago I used Grayloc for hydraulic piping.

More recently I've used a similar Techlok fitting manufactured by Vector International on off-shore platforms.

The service was oil and gas processing and water injection piping with pressures up to 10500 psi. Our temperatures were up to about 400 deg. F, but I believe the temperature limitations would be with the materials and not with the design. Designed to ASME VIII, Div. 2, App. 4. Reliable when installed and fit-up correctly and manufacturer’s recommendations are followed about clamp bolt and seal ring replacement when re-assembling joints.

These kinds of fittings are not necessarily interchangeable from one manufacturer to the next. It's best to establish one brand for the facility and make that the standard from then on. The biggest advantage of these joints is the weight and compact dimensions compared to conventional flanges in high pressure service, one reason they are so popular on off-shore platforms.

Also note that your piping must be designed so that joints can be spread apart enough to insert and remove the seal ring.

Each manufacturer should be able to give you specific pressure allowables, maximum bending and torsional moments, maximum axial loads, weights and dimensions for your material for each hub size.
