Wiring a reversing motor

I've looked through a lot of the information here but can't find much on motor wiring basics. I have a 1/3 Hp GE motor that has 5 leads, labeled T1-T5. What I would like is information that would show me how various motors are to hooked up. I've seen a few mentions of a spec for the codes (i.e., T1, T2...) but have been unable to find the spec. If it helps any, the motor is listed as a GE 5KC36LN183, has the five above-mentioned leads, and also refers to a switch, "three pole double yellow reversing switch". Any help would be appreciated.

Your "three pole double yellow reversing switch"is foreign to me.(Perhaps a typo)You probably mean't a Three pole Double throw reversing switch or Double Throw which would make sense.As for the motor leads normally 1/2/3/4 are for running windings and 5 to 8 is for the Starting winding.
There are numerous hook ups depending on the motor involved.It may be dual voltage,reversing,with Cap or without and what have you.There are many books dealing with the subject as well.You could try Robert Rosenberg ,Electric Motor Repair.This book has been around since I was a kid and I already forgot when that was.There is a lot of good practical info in its pages.

Thanks for the lead to the book. The switch is listed just as I typed it, "double yellow". I figured it referred to a particular GE switch.
