Wiring from VFD to Motor

Is there any special consideration one needs to take into account when wiring up a 480V motor from a VFD. I know distance is a factor but is there a need to use something other than 600v conductors?

You might try doing a web search or a search of this forum. There has been quite a bit of discussion on this lately.

Special cables with multiple ground conductors or shielding are often recommended to reduce RFI coming from the high frequency components of the VFD output waveform. A good ground conductor is essential. Okonite C-L-X metalclad cable now comes standard with three ground conductors and makes an excellent cable for VFD to motor applications - there may be others that are similar.

Some type of metallic conduit or shielding is strongly advised and signal circuits should be routed away from this feeder to the extent possible.

I'm sure you'll get some additional suggestions from some of the VFD experts.

That's about as good as the advice is going to get. The point about shielding and/or metal conduit cannot be emphasized enough. The output conductors act like a radio transmission antenna when not shielded. Keep that in mind if you are planning on running in cable tray.
