I recieved a power unit. Motor wire 460 Three Phase. I need to wire for low voltage as that is all I have. Plate shows a wiring configuration of conecting L1-1-6-7,L2-2-8-4, L3-3-9-5, but every other motor in my plant is wired L1-1-6,L2-2-8,L3-3-9, 4-5-6. Do I wire this motor like the plate says or like all the rest in the plant.

This is a very large motor on a hydraulic unit bigger than anything I had before. Thank you for quick responce as I need to get this thing running.

Why do you think that treating a motor with a different name plate like all other motors in the plant would be a good thing?

You need to choose the connection which matches the supply voltage. Big LV machines tend to be delta connected, in the IEC world anyway.

What Zlatkodo says.
In the NEMA world, most motors are wye wound. However there is the occasional delta wound motor. That is what you have.
For those in IEC land who may find this NEMA convention confusing;
In NEMA land most motors have two sets of windings which are connected in parallel for low voltage operation and in series for high voltage operation. The motors may be wound for star or delta.
They are typically nine lead motors. There are some internal connections so that it is not possible to reconnect a delta motor to star or a star motor to delta. In addition a conversion from delta to wye gives a 1.73:1 voltage ratio. Our standard voltage ratios are 2:1. 120V:240V, 240V:480V. typical nine lead motors (delta or star) will be rated 240V:480V. In Canada we use 600V. 575V motors for use on 600V are three lead motors.

Hello Jrick

Do I wire this motor like the plate says or like all the rest in the plant.----- No

Plate shows a wiring configuration of conecting L1-1-6-7,L2-2-8-4, L3-3-9-5 ---- Yes

Your motor is a nine wires for Delta /Delta-Delta connection

The high voltage is Delta connection and the low voltage connection is Delta-Delta.

Attached you will find some information
