at my main power source i have 2 120 legs and a 240 leg which converts to 3-phase, my questions is am i safe to operate a 230 3 phase motor? will there be and unbalance, what should i do?

This sounds like a 4 wire delta system. If so, the third leg, measured from the 120 volt neutral point will be 208 volts.
You will, however, have 240 volts between the 120 volt legs and from each 120 volt leg and the third leg.
Yes you can run a three phase motor off of this systam. It is safe, and is commonly done.
