Hello,

I am looking for some information on how the interaction equations for tension/compression and bending forces (combined loading) are derived. I know how to use the equations, I am just looking to learn where they come from.

Thanks!

Woody1515 - the concept is similar to developing an interaction diagram for concrete but much easier:

There's also an interesting thread here where Celt83, KootK, and a few others put together some home-made programs to create interaction diagrams based on the NDS requirements. There's some good insight if you're patient enough to read through it all.

Thanks, phamENG

This is what I am looking for. I am even making a simple table myself using Woodworks Sizer for different sizes, height,...It's so cool. Is there any cool things like this buried somewhere in eng-tips? I joined eng-tips long time ago but not active for the last 8 years. It's amazing to see a lot of educational and informative posts from everyone.
