Hey all,

I've come into an issue when looking into splitting failure of wood for compliance with CSAO86. I've searched the code and commentaries for what equation was used for determining the values found in the splitting tables in chapter 7, however there appears to be no mention of it in the commentaries or code. I'm not familiar with what QSRi refers to in the general equation below the table, and from a few checks it appears that the relationship is not linear with ep. Does anyone have a resource that breaks this down so I can calculate it for values outside of the table?

I assume you're talking about table 7.10 for example. I.E. the Q'SrT value.

If you go and dig through the actual CSA O86 instead of the white pages of the design manual, you're looking for clause 12.4.4.7 I believe. Essentially it doesn't matter anything to do with material type.
