I've modeled a small, 2 story commercial building using wood exterior walls, masonry elevator shaft, and interior steel frame. A few of the wood walls will be taking vertical loads, but the openings are either large enough or located in such a way that they cannot be designed as perforated shear walls. I did segmented, but RISA seems to ignore the headers in segmented mode and I'd like to check those, too. The issue is that, even though they don't qualify as shear walls, RISA is still assigning lateral load to them. Is there a way to "turn off" the lateral load transfer to or the resistance of the wood wall panel? Like I said, it's a bearing wall so it needs to be there, but I want to be sure that lateral load is being reallocated to the walls that do qualify by code.
In case it matters, I only have RISA-3D. None of the add-on programs in the suite. I modeled my plywood floor and roof diaphragms with plate elements.
Would the best bet be to run the model as perforated to check headers, etc. and then run again as segmented to get more accurate shear wall performance/load allocation?
