Hi Everyone,
I'm a beginner of Ansys doing a master study of Eccentrically Braced Frames. The FEM model is to simulate the link under cyclic loading and to check the rotational capacity. Following the footstep other research paper, I tried to recreate the same condition as the attached PDF with only horizontal translation movement allow for the left end of the link and vertical translation movement allow for the right end and this mechanic permit the left end to move forward and back when the right end moving up and down when the line is yielding.
The problem I encountered was I tried to apply the GENERAL JOINT Connection Body-Ground in the Workbench Mechanic and fix all but horizontal translation in the left side of the link and vertical translation on the right side of the link and apply A Displacement to the right side upward, but the left did not move at all (the left side act as fix support).
Any advices of how to set up this kind of behavior would be helpful and welcome!
Thank you!
Dong
