Hello everyone,

It's my first time posting to this forum, so thanks in advance!

I have an analysis model in workbench where all my parts are preloaded together with a spring. This preload accounts for a significant part of the stress in each part. I also need to do modal, shock, and random vibration. I made a simple example model, and it seems like the preload from the spring transfers to the modal analysis (the modes change) and also the shock (the stresses seem to add) but not the random vibration.

Could anyone definitively explain how ANSYS handles a preloaded random vibe analysis? Can I manually add the random vibe stress + preload stress to get my max equivalent stress value?

Thanks for your time!

Mike
