I'm trying to constrain a set of gears to move properly in the assembly, but I can't seem to do it with constraint functions. Can anybody provide insight on how it's done? Thanks

gears.... grrrr. I think you want to do an animation?
you need to go/use to motion modul -

Assembly Constraints define 'positional' relationships between Components. But as uwam2ie pointed out, you will need to use the NX Motion Simulation module to define 'dynamic' relationships between Components.

To an Engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

You could use the "Angle" constraint, coupled with some thoughtful use of Expressions, to mimic the proper rotational relationships of the gears in the assembly, without actually simulating contact or needing to use the NX Motion Simulation product.

Yes, that might solve the problem of having two 'gear' Components properly positioned when the angle on one was edited, so that the other would move in the opposite direction, however, it would not provide a solution to being able to dynamically move one component and have the other dynamically respond as if the two were a pair of gears.

@potrero;John
can you supply working examples?
Btw would be nice to have a gear contraint option in NX with assembly positioning.
TIA

Sorry if I don't seem to know the software that well, what do you mean by expressions? I've tried angle constraints, but the gears tend to move in the same direction

In the Expression system, you simply assign the angle of second gear to be equal to the negative of the angle of the first.

Is that under tools>Expressions ?
I've been toying with various things but I still can't seem to get it working.
