When I set the material in a part to Aluminum, A6061, it looks like the part is either Stainless Steel or chrome. Am I missing something but what I was looking for was something more realistic which would be a dull finish. Is this what everyone is seeing or is it just me?

I am opn SW2004, SP1 and my graphics card is a Nvidia Quadro4 900XGL

Thanks in advance

I get the same, but is OK.
If you want a dull finish, change the texture to what is good for you.

Again, I might be missing something but if I add a texture like Metal, Brush metal 1, you can't see or use realview if you have a texture applied. I can click realview on or off and nothing will change once a texture is applied

Check your video card. Some cards will not support realview

That card does support Realview...

I'll see what I get when I try...

I love materials science!

Certain drivers are needed for Real view to work. Make sure you have the Shader file folders install on your system. if not then you can do a modify and re-add them.

Try making a new part and see if it works for that one.

I had a part that would not work properly. I would have to RMB the material and go in to the command then click cancel. After I did that and added a texture then Real view would work. The problem was in the file and not with SW. So try it with many different parts.
