This is NOT a commercial, even though it may appear like it to some. Please don't "flame" it. The feedback from our more generous members is important.

Many years ago, I developed a computer program for my own in-house use. While I was in private practice, there was not a day that I haven't used that program. Now that I have finally retired at the age of 70, I wonder if the program may be of some use to my colleagues.

A brief description is at
I would truly appreciate if some members would check this page, including the two links that are on it, and give me their thoughts on the following questions:

1. Do you think the concept has merit?

2. If yes, can you suggest how the site should be structured?

3. Would you participate?

Please post your reply here or email me on engcomp@pbq.com.au

Thank you with warmest regards, Helmut

Please tell me what is different, improved over other mathematical programs available now like, Matlab, mathematica, mathcad etc.?

Thank you for your question, Qshake - all of these programs are excellent but I do not know them sufficiently to assess whether they let you do their work in a word processor, or if they must run in their native environment.

That would be the major difference. MathCad seems to me like a scratchpad on computer. I found it difficult to use and to format. Its rules are not as intuitive as BASIC.

Looks intriguing. If it is more intuitive than mathcad and others, could be useful. It would be nice to know which WP's this is based on. A screen shot (or animation) might also be useful.

Hi, mikeh

It works with ANY WP that complies with standard edit commands, i.e. Edit | Cut and Edit | Paste. It is more intuitive than MathCad or Matlab or Mathematica, although these programs are excellent. MATHSERV does NOT try to compete with these programs but strives to provide an easy-to-use BASIC programming environment in any word processor.

Thank you for your comment, Helmut

sounds to me like it might be a worthwhile program; keep us posted on development of the wedsite.

Thank you, sharpsooter

Reading cue cards is BORING - until you actually use them to do some work. Suddenly, each line becomes meaningful and interesting. Bear this in mind when you check:

This cue card covers a lot of subjects - snow loads, timber lintels, concrete flat slabs, automated steel beam design, and more. You will soon get the picture how MATHSERV works when you study the cue cards.
