How can P45 base metal be welded with GTAW F6 and SMAW F5 for performance testing.
Need some help?
Thanks

Google applicable filler metals for the basemetal, or check WPS.....go to fnumbers.com to see f# of filler metal.

That is not possible.
F6 and F5 filler metal are ferrous filler metal and P45 is Ni-base Base Metal.
Depending on the operation temperature of the item you have to use e.g. F45 filler metal.

P45 is high alloy stainless steel. Which particular P45 are you welding. There are a lot of different materials in there, and many of them are treated differently than others. Since you are talking about welder performance qualificaiton, why do you have to use P45 base metal? P1 base metal will qualify the welder for P45 base metal as well (QW-423.1)

Thanks all.
Looking into this and had a feeling that SFA #s might have something to do with this. I looked and found in fact instead of jumping the gun as I had done(do) that when in question look up the SFA number for the consumable in question and you'll get your answer. Had something stuck in my head and couldn't shake it.
