Hi guys,

I need to know following:
ASME IX WPQ
Welder was qualified on a single coupon plate in 2G and 3G. Plate thickness was 40mm and material was P1. QW-403.27 says Max. T that welder can weld is that of the weld coupon. Does that mean that in 2G Max. T is 20mm and 3G is also 20mm or thickness is unlimited?

Thank you

QW-403.27 does not apply to welder qualifications under QW-352 thru QW-357 and QW-452. With a minimum of 3 layers deposited the welder in question is qualified to unlimited deposited weld thickness.

QW-403.27 is applicable for temper bead welding procedure qualification under QW-290.

Thank you very much stanweld. That was very helpful.
