WPS as AWS D1.1 require 1

Dear,

i have just stared to make one WPS as AWS D1.1 but i don't know how to begin.

Please tell me step by step to carry out one WPS

This request falls along the lines of "please tell me how to design a piping system," or "please tell me how to build a pressure vessel." There are very similar reasons as to why a company hires welding engineers and consultants - there are an infinite number of applications, variables, design conditions, materials, etc.

It may be wise for your company to do the same, or, should you choose to tackle this yourself, read D1.1 Section 4 "Qualification" front to back, and browse Annex N for some sample forms to get an understanding of the variables and documentation that will be involved along the way.

Agree with Mr168, your best option would be to hire a consultant to do this work.

And you will probably have to read Section 4 more than once to understand it fully.

If a "prequalified joint" WPS can be used, you had better also read Chapter 2 & 3. You might also wish to purchase an appropriate AWS Standard Welding Procedure.

Based on your current lack of knowledge as you have stated, you're better off hiring a consultant.

But i am a person not company so i want to be far of knowledge. today we will begin to make PWPS? how about PWPS? How to prepare best PWPS? How about check list for PWPS?

Your best bet is to read AWS D1.1...probably more than once as it can be confusing.

While you're only a "person not a company," we're presuming that you are doing this for your company and not for a home project. If your company has not bought a copy of AWS D1.1, then you need to tell them that you have to have it -- the whole thing. Then you need to read it, as previously suggested.
