Dear Experts/Members,
(1) I am evaluating loads at nozzle-vessel junction using CAESAR-II WRC-107 Module. After running the Static Analysis, the external loads due to connected piping at nozzle-vessel junction have been summarized in attached table against 7 load cases (OPE, SUS, EXP, OCC).
(2) As many experts (like TGS4) advise to consider all external loads under Sustained category for WRC-107 analysis (as per ASME Section VIII Div 2), I have tried to combine the external piping Loads (against 7 load cases due to OPE, SUS, EXP, OCC cases) in Three different Load Sets. Please refer last Three Rows in attachment.
Load Set # 1 shows simple algebraic sum of all 7 load cases;
Load Set # 2 shows maximum (signed) value from all 7 load cases;
Load Set # 3 shows minimum (signed) value from all 7 load cases;
Discussion Points:
a) Which load set should I put into WRC-107 as SUSTAINED loading?
b) Should I perform Three different/separate analyses - one for each of the above mentioned individual load sets?
c) Should there be any combination of these above mentioned Three Load Sets?
d) Any other load set(s) to be considered to fulfil WRC-107 / ASME Section VIII Div 2 requirements?
Thanks in advance for kind support from members.
Regards,
