I have a few points on these calculations I would like to clear up for myself.
1. When I perform a WRC-107 on a repad for a nozzle I model it like it is a hollow attachment with the thickness of the nozzle thickness + the pad width. I would like some comments on this method. I intend this to check the pad not the nozzle.
2. When I do allowable combined stresses I only allow a yield multiplier of 1 for the sustained loads. I cannot see a clear way around this in UG-23 of Section VIII-I. Comments on this?
3. For large nozzles with large pads how can I incorporate attenuation into checking the pad or is it something that I am missing when looking at the WRC-107 rules?
Thanks in advance.
