Hello,
I have possibly a very simple question that may be a "noob" question as well. This has been bothering me for the last day and i figured i will throw it out into this forum to see what responses i get. So i was creating a drawing that has positional values and profile callouts. Then it dawned on me why would i need basic dimensions? as long as i have my datums properly called out why would they need basic dimensions? I do not expect for this part to be inspected using surface plate methods, i want this part scanned & probed via PCMM. Now if i were to release this drawing will i be complying to Y14.5 requirements? or will i be violating the GD&T laws? I am curious to see what responses i will get.
Thank you in advance.
