I have this Miyano lathe, with Yasnac 2000G control. Well, I am a Fanuc and Fadal type of guy, so I am stumbling slowly forward. After I put some fresh batteries in it, and plugged the parameters in....I whipped up a test program. I'm getting hung up on tool touching and work coordinate setting. The machine will execute a program, but I don't know how to tell it where it's Datum's are. Do I touch, and then zero my "external position", or do I touch and take the numbers from "universal position" and plug them into the tool offset X & Z? I don't know where it's counting from while running, and how to set the Datums. Do I need to be at machine home before starting my program. I have 2 books, a Miyano book, and a Yasnac 2000G book, neither of which are clear on work coordinate setting. One book says to use a G50 on the line before tool call up, to recognize the work coordinates...the other says to use a G58 on the same line as tool call up. I can't seem to find the secret recipe for this thing. So If anyone could give me a basic "walk through" of tool touching, and setting work coordinates, I would be so very happy. Any input at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks......Carthius
